Guest tutoring & workshops

As a rural working-class writer first published after forty, I have a particular interest in working with organisations who support underrepresented voices.

My most recent mentoring, host tutor and guest speaking credits include the Class Festival at Bristol Festival of Ideas (2020), Ilkley Literature Festival (2021 and 2022), the Charles Causley Trust (2022) and Bath Spa MA in Nature and Travel Writing (2023). From October 2022 to September 2023 I’m a co-tutor on fellow author Sharon Blackie’s Hagitude program, offering intensive monthly creative confidence exercises for her book’s large international membership community.

As a creative workshop leader I specialise in helping others to write with more confidence about their past, their places and their people – with an emphasis on non-fiction and memoir. I’ve delivered these workshops for many groups including Wealden Literature Festival, Chip Lit Fest and New Writing South.

If you are interested in funding me to work with your organisation, please outline your requirements and fee offering by email to editor@selkiepress.com

Mentoring & group courses

I’m receiving many requests from aspiring and emerging writers around the world for one-to-one mentoring and small group classes. I’m moved that so many people want to do depth work with me after reading The Cure for Sleep and I’m working in 2023 to design some options for the new year. I will only be extending invitations to people who are already engaged members of my existing online communities, so please do join me on my free Substack to be sure of receiving news of opportunities to work with me.
